Innkeeper will be returning to En Avant for stud in 2006.Scimitar's three year old son, Saracen (from his first foal crop) was granted a certified breeding license by Oldenburg/ISR and will be attending the 100 day stallion testing at Paxton Farm next year. Saracen is owned and bred by Mike and Jean Bitely. En Avant was represented by it's first, third generation offspring at Hilltop Farm's Oldenburg/ISR inspection. Sirocco, by Scimitar out of the Innkeeper daughter, Inntuition, was the reserve champion colt with an overall score of 8.3. Kathleen Jackson's Scimitar filly, Silhouette, was also a premium filly at the same inspection. At the Summit Sporthorses inspection at Ringoes, NJ, the Scimitar foal, Sir Donald owned and bred by Ilona English was site champion colt with an 8.4, and Ilona's Innkeeper filly, out of a Guigan de Lully mare was premium with an 8.1. Scimitar and Innkeeper are now both approved for breeding with RPSI International in Studbook I. Innkeeper had a great year up at Hilltop breeding quite a diverse group of mares including Bruce Davidson's, Diamond Lion and Sagamore Farm's Grand Prix jumper, Jasmine. Innkeeper's incredible fertility was quite the hot topic at Select Breeders Services and it was generally aknowledged that he had the best quality semen of all the stallions standing at Hilltop. Innkeeper's 2004 foal crop included two Oldenburg site champions; Innovation, owned and bred by Hilltop farm and out of the premium, Parabol daughter, Parlez earned an overall score of 8.8 and was the Hilltop Farms Inspection's highest scoring filly. On the West Coast Gail Boyd's Innkeeper colt, Inntrepid, out of an Alla Czar mare scored an 8.3 and had the top score at the Riverland Farms inspection. Scimitar's offspring continue to do well as their sire works on his dressage career. Adding to his list of premium offspring were Sedona, bred by Kathleen Jackson, Stallone, bred by Retta Hyatt and Sharifa, bred by Pete Bitely. Two Scimitar colts, Shenanigan and Saracen represented their sire at Dressage at Devon in the huge two year old colts and geldings class. Shenanigan, owned by Bonnie Thomas was third closely followed by his brother, Saracen, owned by Mike and Jean Bitely who was fifth. Dressage at Devon 2003/Inspection News: Scimitar was 2nd in the 4 yr and older stallion (also under saddle) in-hand class, and 3rd in the Under-Saddle class. He went on to become third in the USDF Stallion Championship class. His offspring also went on to enjoy good ribbons at this most competitive of breed shows! "Shenanigan (Scimitar/Ith) owned by Kathy Jackson came 6th of 28 in the yearling colt class, and "Schehererazade" (Scimitar/Adam) owned by MIke & JEan Bitely came home with an 8th placed ribbon in the huge Fillies of 2003 with 34 fillies. At the Hilltop ISR/OLD inspection the aforementioned Scheherazade went premium with a score of 7.9, and "Sasha" (Scimitar/Candidus) owned by Ken DeGroot went premium with an 8.1 !! Congratulations to all the deserving owners of these exciting young Scimitar progeny! 2002 News: Although the jumper world will miss out, Scimitar is spending time as a dressage horse. At his first outing this year at Prince Georges Equestrian Center, he won the ABIC qualifier at training level over 25 other horses with a 69.2%. Scimitar was represented by just one colt at the 2002 Dressage at Devon. The foal, Saracen out of a Davignport mare, Damoiselle owned and bred by Mike and Jean Bitely of Bruceton Mills, WV was seventh out of a class of thirty four entries. At the Magnolia Farms Oldenburg/ISR inspection in Concord, GA the Scimitar foal, Shenanigan, owned and bred by Kathleen Jackson of Marietta, SC was awarded premium status and was the highest scoring colt at the inspection. Judge Karsten Kuhl commented that he was the best moving foal of the day! On July 26, 2002 at Hilltop Farm in Colora, Maryland, Innkeeper received a lifetime breeding license from ISR/Oldenburg North America. He is now one of only two thoroughbred stallions available for breeding within the registry. We were approached about sending Innkeeper to Germany to stand at stud. At this time his future is still uncertain but either way we will offer him at stud either through fresh semen if he stays or frozen if he goes. Regardless of the outcome it is very flattering to have the German horse industry interested in him and his classic thoroughbred pedigree. We always knew he was great but now everyone else is starting to catch on. Scott Hassler, of Hilltop Farm wants to breed to him! Innkeeper was also well represented at Dressage at Devon by the thoroughbred gelding, Concierge. The three year old held his own and pinned in every class up against warmbloods as the only full thoroughbred in the field. He was sixth in hand and third under saddle. In the big three and four year old suitable to become a dressage horse class, he made the cut and was in the top ten. This is quite an accomplishment after just six weeks of dressage training. | |
