Bay 17.0 hands ![]() Champion Colt and reserve champion young horse at Dressage at Devon 1998 Successfully completed his 100 day Stallion Performance Test at Rancho Murieta with an overall score of 111.55, ranked 6th overall with very high rideability scores. Scimitar is the only son of the very popular German Oldenburg sire Silvio 1 standing in the U.S.A. Silvio is one of the great Sandro sons bred by Paul Schockamuhler and the sire of the 100 day test winner, Sergeant Pepper. Scimitar's mother Carballina is a States Premium daughter of the legendary Holsteiner stallion Calypso II. After being bred to the Celle stallion Werther twice and Akzent II once, her owners in Germany, the Rhodes bred her to Silvio in hopes of getting a super jumper. In their opinion, Scimitar is the best foal she produced. As a yearling, Scimitar made his showing debut at the prestigious Dressage at Devon. He won his class and went on to become champion colt, (beating out the two and three year olds) and reserve champion young horse. While spending time in training with Helmut Schrant as a three year old, he was presented to The Oldenburg/ISR registry and provisionally licensed; receiving the fantastic scores of 8.5s for all his free jumping. Within two weeks, he was on his way to Rancho Murietta, California to participate in the 100 days stallion testing. One of only three three-year-olds in a field of what was generally accepted as being the best group of stallions tested in this country so far, he finished a highly respectable sixth. The wonderful thing about his scores is he was equally well liked for both jumping and dressage and got really high marks for rideability from the guest riders who included Todd Minikus and Christine Traurig. At the conclusion of the testing he was presented to a panel from the American Hanoverian Society and accepted into the registry. He is now an elite Hanoverian stallion - no small feat! This year as a four year old he stood his first year at stud while he was shown lightly in dressage. In September, he made his triumphant return to Dressage at Devon; winning the highly contested Four Year Olds and Older stallions (also showing under saddle) class with a fantastic 80.07%. In the corresponding under saddle class he was second, narrowly beaten by a nine-year-old FEI horse. He is currently
